Duplicate Cleaner For iPhoto App Reviews

For waht this app does, you can’t beat the price. Make sure you leave enough time for it to do its job. I would suggest overnight.

I was aprehensive about downloading this as the top two reviews only gave it a one star. I’ve downloaded this on three seperate Macs now and two of them worked great right off the bat. Upon running on the third Mac, both iPhoto and Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto became unresponsive. I decided that it had to be iPhoto that was the issue as it worked perfectly on the other two computers. I force quit both apps, re-launched iPhoto but this time I held down the Command and Option keys on my keyboard until iPhoto was fully launched. A screen appeared which allowed me to repair my iPhoto database. I repaired my database using the top three choices (after each choice, I had to restart iPhoto using the Command and Option keys so that I could go onto the next repair choice in the list). After all three repairs were done, I launched iPhoto and Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto and this time it worked perfectly. So, if you experience an unresponsive Mac after running this, I recommend repairing your iPhoto database and all will be fine :-) Thanks very much for making this very useful app for us!

Worked the very first time.

It took a couple of passes to work effectively, proceeded somewhat slowly, but recovered many GBs after combining a couple of iPhoto Libraries.

It works perfectly with iPhoto.

I found it a bit difficult to actually get the iphoto to be highlighted so I could click on it, but once I got it working, I thought it was terrific! Worked as advertised eventhough it was a bit slow.

Now here’s a crummy situation: my laptop’s hard drive died. Then, my Time Machine drive (a WD NAS) reformatted itself (couldn’t get into the web UI or anything - had to do a firmware reset). Luckily, I restored most of the photos that were on the backup drive. This tool really saved me a ton of time during that data recovery process.

This software was unbearably slow AND it didn’t even catch all of my duplicates! I would recommend PhotoSweeper Lite over this any day.

Because of a non-Apple application I had on my iMac, I had many, many duplicate photos. Every time I would upload a new batch, this app would create a new subfolder and dump previously uploaded files along with new ones, into that folder. I think this went on for a couple of years before I figured out how many dups I had on my hard drive. Now, I could have spent hours, days trying to solve this the old fashioned way, but I googled and discovered this “Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto” and it solved my problem in 15 seconds flat. Amen brother. Easy to install, easy to use, and it freed up almost 2 Gb of space in 15 seconds time. I highly recommend it.

its works as promised - cant add much more to what so many have already said - definitely worth using to clean up your photo libraries

This app removed over 15000 duplicates I had from my computer and worked wonderfully. The bad part is it took over 8 HOURS TO DO. So make sure you start it at night and just let it run till the morning.

I kept getting a notice that i used up all my space and needed to delete files and movies, this app helped make that process so much faster and efficient! I save 1gb!

used it once and its cool with me

Just switched from pc to mac and ended up with a number of duplicates in iPhoto. This found them and got rid of them in minutes, clearing up lots of valuable space!
