I got it becaue it was free, but it worked perfectly on my giant iPhoto library — found 1,770 duplicates.

Worked marvelously for me. Along the way of computer migrations and moving from WIndows to Mac about 10 years ago, I ended up withroughly 25% of my 60K in photos being duplicates. This app worked exactly as advertized. Highly recommended. Now onto my next task of removing bad pictures. You know, the ones of the ground or with my finger covering the lens. If only they made an app for that! Ha!
In general, it does well what it promises and works very fast on my library of 20k+ photos. However, it doesn’t seem to consider album memberships of photos at all. If you use automatic clean-up, it might delete the duplicate of a photo that is part of an album or another project. It requires manual work to fix that, which is a lot of effort if you have a lot of duplicates in our library, unfortunately.
This app is amazing! Works fast and exactly as described!
couldnt ask for better
Works exactly the way you think it should! =)))))))
very easy to use, and did exactly what I hoped it would do: find duplicates, allow me to scan them and then have them deleted. and it did the searching for dups crazy fast!
this one was really good and totally impressive. Best part, is they have a 24/7 help line you can call. I was skeptical at first, but someone picked up within a few seconds and he was really helpful. His accent was a little hard to understand, but not too bad and he walked me through everything. I can’t believe that a free app has 24/7 assistance with no wait time, where as I can’t talk to a live person for my phone or internet bills that I actually pay for! anyway, I was super impressed :) good work!
This app was so helpful, one wonders why this functionality is not native to Photo. Two words of caution. First, this is not automatic. You have to be able to follow some directions to delete the photos. Second, when I clicked on update, I got taken to a buy an upgrade screen. I chose NOT to upgrade and it still worked fine.
Usually when something is free I assume it isn’t going to acutally be functional enough to be worth the download. This application definitely is. It performed exactly as promised and was pretty much idiot proof, with a step by step guide of how to use it in tandem with iPhotos. In short, its a wonderful suppliment that is found lacking in the iPhotos application.
Great app. Had to call the support for instructions, which I wish were clearer.
The app was so easy to use! It found all the duplicates and let you choose which to delete (some had multiple copies-found all of them). Shows date and size so you know which was which. I had pictures from multiple cameras, multiple devices-very easy and efficient to use. Even lets you take a look at duplicates before final delete in case you made a mistake! Thank you Apple!
I tried an app or two before and am sticking with this one. It is easy to use and highly affective! It gets my recommendation, and this from a persnickety person when it comes to technology. i.e. If it is not easy, I don’t bother…...
After starting over on my wife’s computer.. I backed up all of the photos from the previous computer…. well, I had somewhere near 9.000 duplicates on my wife’s macbook… This tool saved me hours of time.
Looked promising but it just doesn’t work. It found 28 duplicates in my photo library (even though there is clearly hundreds), and deleted them. After that, I opened iphoto and deleted the duplicate folder where the app trashed the duplicates. Rerunning the app found the same 28 duplicates. I turned off icloud to make sure the photos were not getting replaced, reran the app with the same exact results of find the same 28 duplicates even though I deleted them from the folder.
No instructions, no way to guess how it works. It did absolutely nothing. Complete waste of time.
Seriously, wow. This was the first app suggestion I came across after googling how to remove duplicate photos. It was about 5 minutes, def not more than that, and cleared 2.07gb. What the f was I doing with all those extra photos in the first place. Thank you so much!
Saved me a ton of time! I accidentally pulled off the photos from my iphone twice about 600 photos, saved me a ton of time!
I knew I had duplicates yet this application reported none found and kept pushing me to upgrade to the ‘pro’ edition. Worthless.
I was hoping this program would help clean up my iPhoto. After combining my laptop with my husband’s laptop on to one desktop computer, I knew I had a lot of duplicate pictures in my iPhoto. I installed and ran this program and it didn’t take me long to figure out that something was very wrong. It was only supposed to scan iPhoto but somehow it pulled in several other files even though I specifically selected the iPhoto file I wanted scanned. My digital scrapbooking elements were pulled in along with several photo files that had nothing to do with iPhoto. I went back to the beginning to make sure that only iPhoto was selected, which it was. I closed the program and opened my iPhoto. It took over an hour to load because “thumbnails were updating.” When it finally opened, there were over 13,000 extra photos in my iPhoto. YES, THIRTEEN THOUSAND!!! Many events were scrambled, multiple events were duplicated and thousands of pictures and digital scrapbooking elements had been added from other files on my computer. Words can hardly explain my frustration as this will take many hours of work for me to sort out. I ma definitely not impressed with this program!
